In Andrew Braaksma essay "Some lessons from the Assembly line,"tell the story and lesson Braaksma got from work in a factory between semesters. In the essay "Some Lessons From the Assembly Line" Braaksma work at a factory between semesters. The work was back breaking work and it gave him a better appreciation about school and how lucky he is to even have the opportunity.
I understan where Braaksma is coming from because I used to work at a fast food restaurant.
Before attending the Art Institute I work as a crew member at Mcdonalds. In the beginning the work was easy and in truth the work never really got to physically demanding. The real strain was mental. It just seem like as a crew you could never do anything right. The customers is always right even when there are wrong. And when the restaurant did well only the manager was rewarded even though the crew was the person that was the one who clean the dirty diaper off the bathroom wall.Because of the experience I never want to be on the bottom in business world now what I do in the end I want to be the boss.

salvation
Langston Hughes essay "salvation," tell the story of when he was a young man and pressure he face from his family. During the a revival that his church was throwing,he was face with pressure from his aunt to stand up and be saved.Because of the pressure he compromise his own beliefs. The in sight that he got from the experience, is that peer pressure can come from any where and you should always stick to what you believe in. I can relate to peer pressure that Hughes face because in high school I face pressure from a beautiful girl.
I can remember when I was in high school there I feel in love with a girl named kassidy.
She was the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. She had long dark hair and some of the most beautiful brown eye I Have eave seen, and smile that would make a man melt.
One day, In P.E. class we were in the swim quarter. Knowing that I was lacking in the swim skill category, I have all ready decided that I was going to take an F for this quarter. But her come kassidy looking at me with those brown eyes of hers and she say "Come on Dennis put on you short and lets go swimming." So I go and put my shorts on and join her in the three foot end of the pool.we'er splashing and having a blast in the shallow end when she says that we should go to the 12 foot end. I tell her I'm not comfortable with that cause of my swim skill level. Again she look at me with those brown eyes so said "fine lets do this." Now im on the wall Inching my way till I reach the deep end. There I am holding on to the edge of the pool when Kassidy tell me to let go of the the wall and like an idiot in love, I do. AS soon as I do I sink like a stone.
At this point I need some one to same me and the person who does is Kassidy. As Man, having the girl I trying to impress save me was the worst part of the whole thing.
NOw I never let anyone pressure me in doing thing I am uncomfortable with.

I agree with fisher. there is to many time where cell causes rudeness such as church , funerals and weddings. We have all seen this, it is almost normal to see people talking to themselves now a days. Cellphone are turning our society into social zombies. Cellphone usage in public causes confusion.
Due to there size and the use of a headset it is confusing to know whether or not a person is talking to you. Back in high school I took a trip to UC Davis to visit the campus. As I was walking to the campus this guy was seemingly yelling at me. I never met the guy and I didn’t know what I could of done to offend him. Turns out he was just on his phone, using his headset.

darkness
In the article “darkness at noon” Harold Krents tell the story how people treated him differently because of his blindness. His purpose in writing his article was tell people that just because you might be disable in one aspect of your life doesn’t mean your disable in others.People frequently assume just because your disable that your also incapable. I agree with the point krent was making.I can relate to his point because when I was younger my family owned a care home with mentally disable clients.
On my visits to the care home there was a client there name Robert who they said had the ming of a child.
He talked funny walked funny and could tie his shoe on his own.
So knowing about his disabilities I could believe that he could read.
Every morning he would ask or a news paper.I was hard to believe that he could read let alone comprehend what he just had read.He would routinely tell us score of games and just news stories in general. Looking at Robert you would assume that reading would be impossible for some one of his mental disabilities. Just because some one is because some one is disabled doesn’t mean they’re in capable.

competition friend or foe
Lisa Stricks’s purpose of writing this essay “So What’s So Bad About Being So-So?” is to illustrate that we as individuals feel more pressured to excel in doing things we once did fun because of the competitive world we now live in. Strick would us to go back to the day which we just did hobbies for the fun of it. I don’t completely agree with her because I have a number of hobbies and I don’t feel pressure to be superb at all of them, only the ones that I want to be great at. I could relate to what she says because I had a friend took a prank too far because of competition.
When I was still in high school a couple of my friends had a prank competition. It started out innocent, a toilet paper house here, an egged car there, you know ,the basics. Then one day after a long day of school, a group of us went to our friend Jeremy’s house. So we were there in the kitchen drinking an apple drink (Dave Chappel). Alex, a participant in the prank, competition went into the bathroom. So Brandon, another participant, pulls out some eyedrops hearing that if it was consumed that might cause diarrhea. So Brandon places three drops into Alex’s drink. After Alex returns from the bathroom he finishes his drink not knowing what had happen while he was away. A few minutes later Alex started to cough, gages, and vomit. So much, in fact that, that we had to rush him to the hospital to get his stomach pumped. This prank is a prime example of taking competition too far.

Fishy cheeks
How many times are we ashamed of things just because we are afraid or worry about what others might say or think? In the essay “Fish Cheeks,” Amy Tan’s writes about a time she was ashamed. She was ashamed about the food she ate and her family in a sense. But she realizes that the things she is ashamed of is the very thing that makes her special. In the end she learned that she shouldn’t be ashamed of her favorite things or even ashamed of herself.
I remember a time when I felt like Amy. I’ve been vegetarian for eight years now. Since I’ve started coming to the Art Institute, I’ve made some good friends. All of my friends wanted to hangout and get lunch but instead of telling them that I don’t eat meat, I told them I was not hungry. I was ashamed but eventually I told them that I was a vegetarian and it turns out that they knew a lot of people who doesn’t eat meat as well. I felt like an idiot because in my mind I thought that they would think I was strange.
